High-nickel layered oxide cathode materials, in particular the cobalt-free LiNiO2, are the most promising candidates for developing lithium-ion batteries and lithium-metal batteries (LMBs) because of their high energy density and low cost. However, LiNiO2 suffers from poor cycling stability due to high surface reactivity and severe structural changes during cycling.
New electrolytes will allow formation of an inorganic-rich cathode-electrolyte interphase on LiNiO2 cathode, protecting its surface from degrading into rock salt and spinel phases during cycling. In addition, such electrolytes form a thin, robust solid-electrolyte interphase on Li-metal anode, alleviating the increase in overpotential during cycling. Protecting the surface is key to improving the cycling stability of LiNiO2.
TexPower NMA cathode is compatible with all types of advanced anodes. We have tested our cathode with Lithium Metal, 100% Graphite, Low-Silicon Graphite and High-Silicon Graphite.
